Latvian Railway History Museum
The Latvian Railway History Museum boasts the largest collection of historic rolling stock in the Baltics, the largest and most modern scale model railway display in the Baltics, and is located in one of the most picturesque parts of Riga – the vibrant Pārdaugava. Parks in the vicinity of the Museum, with blossoming sakura trees in spring, active and passive recreation areas, make this part of Riga a favourite place for everyone. Furthermore, historic buildings of Āgenskalns and Torņkalns neighbourhoods have made Pārdaugava one of the most significant parts of the city’s cultural and architectural heritage. The Museum with its special atmosphere is a unique place for hosting different events. Concerts, performances, conferences, corporate events, exhibitions – we can make any idea come true! The Museum Hall, thanks to its size, layout and equipment, can be adapted to any creative idea and event. The Hall has the roughness of an industrial space – the brick walls have been preserved from the historical wagon workshop they once housed, the large arched windows provide natural light to create a harmonious cosiness, while laconic lines of lamps are used for artificial lighting. Historical railway wagons and locomotives are also on display in the Hall: the legendary passenger car “Fēnikss”, a narrow-gauge passenger car, a railway plough with a platform, and an electric locomotive head from rolling stock manufacturer Rīgas Vagonbūves Rūpnīca.
