Jūrmala city museum

Jurmala City Museum was founded in year 1962 as a Local History Museum. The name of the museum and location has been changed many times. From year 1997 it is situated in Majori, in year 1960 building, wich was reconstruated for needs of the museum in 1997 and 2004. In year 2008 a historical exhibition "Rīgas Jūrmala and Ķemeri Resort from the 18th to 20th century" was opened, wich was dedicated to the history of the resort, looking at resort as a culturally historical phenomenon and accenting its importance in the finding and development of the Jurmala City.

There are more than 50 000 items in the store - room of the museum, wich are sorted in many historical collections of history and art.

Museum is praud of its largest collection of swimming suits in Latvia, works of artists, as well as exhibits of underwater. Jurmala City Museum has two branches: House of Aspazija and Jurmala's Open - Air Museum. A historical exhibition "Rīgas Jūrmala and Ķemeri Resort from the 18th to 20th century".
