10th European Colposcopy Congress in Riga, Latvia.
For 25 years, the European Colposcopy Federation (ECF) has been at the forefront of improving colposcopy standards and advocating for equal cervical cancer prevention for women across Europe. Although Latvia is still one of the countries with the highest incidence of cervical cancer in Europe, the close cooperation with EKF has significantly contributed to improvements in this area.
Colposcopy services have been developed in Latvia, and the colposcopy certification method has been introduced, which is an essential step in cancer prevention. The European Colposcopy Federation, which brings together 38 national colposcopy societies, actively influences and represents colposcopists across Europe, emphasizing education, training and evidence-based practices. This year's congress, held in Riga, Latvia, from September 18 to 21, 2024, at the Radisson Blu Latvija Hotel, is an important event. The congress is held in cooperation with the Latvian Association of Gynecologists and Obstetricians, and its primary goal is to discuss the most important issues to prevent cervical and other HPV-related cancers. The congress president is the associate professor of Riga Stradins University and the head of the Riga Eastern Clinical University Gynaecology Clinic, Jana Žodžika.
The virtual congress program will feature speakers from more than 40 countries who are leading experts in their field, including leading Latvian colposcopy specialists. The multifaceted program will cover essential topics, including HPV vaccination, cervical screening, diagnosis and treatment of precancerous changes in the cervix, and the role of colposcopy in the prevention of cervical cancer... We are sure that the congress will improve the knowledge and experience of specialists in the prevention of cervical cancer and contribute to the common goal - to prevent cervical cancer in Latvia and Europe.
